Gun Camera Photo Fraud

Introduction: Will the Real Gun Camera Photo Please Stand Up?

By Ken Halliwell (December 26, 2004)

Below are two very different looking gun camera photos. Both have been represented as being gun camera photos taken by the lead attack aircraft during the USS Liberty attack. The one on the left is an image of a ship that appears in the Israel Defense Forces History Report of 1982, "The Attack on the 'Liberty' Incident". The one on the right is from A. Jay Cristol's book, The Liberty Incident.

As you can see, these photos are truly very different in appearance. In two analysis papers -- fraud in Cristol's The Liberty Incident and in the IDF History Report of 1982 -- it's shown that both of these photos are fradulent. The IDF photo may be a real gun camera photo, but the ship in the photo is not USS Liberty. The photo in Mr. Cristol's book appears to truly show USS Liberty, but the photo is a fabrication -- it's not a real gun camera photo.

It appears that no gun camera photo can stand up.
