Disputed Facts Related to the Attack Itself
In order argue the disputed facts related to the attack itself, expert and forensic analysis will be used.
More expert and forensic analysis is being developed every day by researchers and amateur historians. The following arguments have been derived from the respective pieces of evidence:
- Aircraft Attack Profile
The Israeli account of the aircraft attack profile makes no sense.
- Approach and Attack by Torpedo BoatsThe Israeli account of the approach and attack by the torpedo boats do not make sense.
- Torpedo Running Depth
The Israeli torpedoes were set to run at a depth below the draft of El Quseir, but the depth was "textbook" for USS Liberty. (The torpedo boat commanders claimed to mistake Liberty for El Quseir. We'll get to that later.)
- Close Range of Torpedo Boats
The angle of shell impacts on the hull of USS Liberty establishes that the Israeli torpedo boats were within fifty feet of the ship when they fired their cannons and machine guns. (This is important for two reasons: one, hull numbers could definitely be read from fifty feet; two, the torpedo boat commanders claimed to have fired torpedoes, immediately identify ship as Liberty, and stop firing. We'll get to these later.)
- Wake Patterns
The physics of ships' wake patterns undercuts the claim by the aircraft pilots and torpedo boat commanders that Liberty was seen as moving fast.
